Editorial & AI Policy

GigMoney Playbook exists to explain money topics for US 1099 gig workers and side hustlers clearly and honestly. This page explains how our content is created, how we use AI, how we check facts, and how we fix mistakes.

Who is behind the content

The Site is owned and run by Corey Perkins in Ohio. Corey is not a CPA, Enrolled Agent, attorney, Certified Financial Planner® professional, registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, insurance agent, or tax preparer, and does not prepare tax returns for others. Our content is educational, not professional advice. See our Disclaimer.

How we use AI

We use AI writing tools to help create our content. Specifically, AI may be used to:

  • Brainstorm topics and outline articles
  • Draft sections of articles
  • Summarize or simplify official guidance in plain language
  • Suggest headlines, edit for clarity, and check grammar

AI tools can make mistakes, including stating outdated figures or inventing facts that sound correct. That’s why AI output is never published without human review. AI-assisted content can still contain errors after review, so please check important details against the sources we link.

Human review

Corey reviews and edits every article before it is published. Review includes:

  • Checking key facts, numbers, deadlines, and limits against primary sources
  • Removing or correcting anything that can’t be verified
  • Removing any first-person experience, testimonial, quote, or statistic produced by AI that can’t be documented
  • Making sure the article is clear, balanced, and useful for its intended reader
  • If a post includes affiliate links, confirming the disclosure appears before the first one

Corey is responsible for everything published on the Site.

No fake experience or credentials

We do not invent personal stories, testimonials, reviews, credentials, or “expert” bylines. If an article describes hands-on experience with a product or situation, it will be because a real person actually had that experience, and we’ll say so. Otherwise, we’ll tell you what the information is based on.

Sources we rely on

We prioritize primary and official sources, and we link to them so you can check our work. Common sources include:

  • IRS.gov, including IRS publications, forms, instructions, and the Gig Economy Tax Center
  • State tax agency websites
  • Other government sources, such as the Social Security Administration, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the FDIC
  • Official product websites and pricing pages, when describing specific products

When we use secondary sources, we try to use reputable ones and confirm key facts against official sources.

Keeping content up to date

Tax rules and limits change often. We aim to review important articles, especially those with year-specific figures, at least once a year and when major rule changes happen. Articles show a “last updated” date so you can see how current they are.

Independence from advertisers and affiliates

The Site has no ads or affiliate links at launch. In the future, it may earn money from ads and affiliate links. If it does, advertisers and affiliate partners will not review or approve our content before publishing, and they cannot pay for favorable coverage. Read more in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Corrections policy

We want to get things right, and we’ll own it when we don’t.

  • Report an error: Email gigmoneyplay@gmail.com with the page link, what you believe is wrong, and a source if you have one.
  • Review: We will review reports promptly and check them against primary sources.
  • Fix: If we confirm an error, we will correct the article.
  • Transparency: For corrections that change the meaning of the content (such as a wrong tax figure, deadline, or rule), we will add a dated correction note to the article explaining what changed. Minor fixes like typos or formatting may be made without a note.
